1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to anyone who uses HostingDon services — account holders, end users of hosted sites, anyone authorized to access an account, and anyone whose Customer Content is hosted with us. The AUP forms part of our Terms of Service.
If you operate a service that allows others to upload content, you are responsible for ensuring those users also comply with this AUP.
2. Prohibited content
You may not use HostingDon to host, distribute, link to, or facilitate the storage of:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any image, video, or text. We report all confirmed reports immediately to NCMEC and local authorities.
- Content that promotes terrorism, violent extremism, or genocide, or that incites violence against any individual or group.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery, including "revenge porn" and AI-generated deepfakes.
- Material that infringes someone else's intellectual property — copyrighted works, trademarks, trade secrets — without permission. See our DMCA process below.
- Pirated software, cracked games, key generators, or warez.
- Content that violates the privacy of others, including stalking, harassment, or doxxing.
- Fraudulent content, including phishing pages, fake invoice schemes, fake login portals, and counterfeit storefronts.
- Malware — viruses, worms, trojans, ransomware, spyware, keyloggers — or distribution channels for the same.
- Content unlawful in its country of origin or country of access, where we have actual knowledge.
3. Prohibited activities
You may not use HostingDon for:
- Operating bulletproof hosting, anonymous file lockers, or services designed to evade abuse reports;
- Cryptocurrency mining on shared or managed hosting plans (this is allowed on Cloud plans where you've provisioned dedicated resources);
- Running open proxies, open relays, or anonymizing networks (Tor exit nodes) on shared infrastructure;
- Distributed Denial of Service ("DDoS") attacks, port scanning, or vulnerability scanning of systems you don't own or have written permission to test;
- Brute-force attacks, credential stuffing, or password cracking;
- Botnet command-and-control;
- Click fraud, ad-fraud, or fake-traffic generation;
- Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing fraud, or boiler-room operations;
- Operating an unlicensed gambling, financial services, or pharmaceutical business in a jurisdiction that requires a license.
4. Network abuse
You may not use HostingDon services to:
- Forge headers, IP addresses, or other network identifiers;
- Launch attacks against any system, including ones operated by HostingDon;
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of any HostingDon system or another customer's site without our prior written permission;
- Circumvent any access controls, rate limits, or security measures;
- Use automated tools to scrape HostingDon's website or API at rates higher than reasonable human use.
5. Email & anti-spam
HostingDon takes spam very seriously. You may not:
- Send unsolicited bulk email ("UCE" or "spam") in any form, including newsletters to lists you didn't grow with verified opt-in;
- Send email to addresses obtained by harvesting, purchasing, or scraping;
- Send transactional or marketing email without proper unsubscribe headers as required by CAN-SPAM, CASL, and EU ePrivacy rules;
- Operate mail servers that relay third-party email without authentication;
- Forge "From" headers or use misleading subject lines.
Shared hosting plans have a default outbound email rate limit of 200 messages per hour. If you need higher volume, contact support@hostingdon.com with a description of your use case. We may require proof of opt-in collection processes.
6. Resource usage
Shared and managed plans share underlying server resources with other customers. To keep things fair and fast for everyone, we apply soft and hard limits described in your plan's product page. In general, you may not:
- Sustain CPU usage above 25% of a single core for more than 90 seconds on shared plans;
- Use shared hosting as primary backup storage, file mirror, video CDN, or scientific computing platform;
- Run long-lived background processes, daemons, or cron jobs that exceed your plan's allocation;
- Use a single shared account to host more than the documented number of concurrent visitors.
If your site grows beyond shared limits, that's a good problem — we'll proactively reach out to recommend an upgrade to Business, WordPress Scale, or our Cloud platform.
7. Security violations
You are responsible for keeping the software you run on our servers secure and up to date — applications, plugins, themes, dependencies, and admin credentials. If we detect that an account has been compromised and is being used for malicious purposes, we will suspend the account immediately to protect other customers, then work with you to clean and restore.
You must not knowingly install or run known-vulnerable software, abandoned plugins, or backdoor code.
If you discover a security vulnerability in HostingDon's own systems, please responsibly disclose it to security@hostingdon.com. We have a public bug bounty program at hostingdon.com/security.
8. Third-party rights
You must not use HostingDon to violate any third party's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or contract rights. Specifically:
DMCA / Copyright
HostingDon complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Notices of claimed infringement should be sent to our designated agent at dmca@hostingdon.com. Notices must include all elements required under 17 U.S.C. §512(c)(3). Counter-notices follow §512(g).
For copyright complaints originating outside the United States, equivalent processes under local law (e.g., the EU DSA) are honored.
9. Reporting abuse
If you believe a HostingDon-hosted site is violating this AUP, please email abuse@hostingdon.com with:
- The URL or IP address in question;
- A description of the alleged violation;
- Evidence (screenshots, log excerpts, sample messages);
- Your contact information.
We acknowledge abuse reports within 24 hours and prioritize by severity. Reports of CSAM and active malware/phishing receive immediate response, 24/7.
10. Enforcement
We respond to violations proportionate to the seriousness and recurrence:
| Violation type | Typical first action |
|---|---|
| Resource overage (shared plans) | Email notice + 7 days to upgrade or optimize |
| Spam / bulk email | Outbound email throttled or suspended pending review |
| Compromised site (malware) | Site temporarily disabled; we notify you and assist cleanup |
| Phishing page | Page removed within 1 hour; account suspended pending review |
| CSAM / illegal content | Immediate removal, account terminated, reported to authorities |
| DDoS attack origin | Account suspended immediately; investigation |
| Repeat or willful violations | Account terminated; refunds forfeit |
For non-emergency violations, we always try to give you a chance to fix the issue before suspending or terminating. We're not in the business of surprise termination — but we won't hesitate when customer or third-party safety is at stake.
11. Updates to this policy
We may update this AUP from time to time as the threat landscape evolves and laws change. Material changes will be communicated by email at least 15 days before they take effect. The current version is always available at this URL.
Questions? Email abuse@hostingdon.com for AUP questions, or our general contact form for anything else.
